Our mission is to bring knowledge and hope to people experiencing mental problems.
The idea to establish the foundation arose in January 2023, after the publication of my video about scientific research on depression. The video included information that had been written about in Western countries for several decades: that antidepressants can cause physical dependence and severe, long-lasting withdrawal symptoms, that they do not cure depression, but only suppress its symptoms, that they may cause emotional blunting (affecting the ability to experience both negative and positive things in life), sexual dysfunctions, weight gain, and others.
Although the film was based entirely on current scientific research, the list of which was presented under the recording and on the screen, and the Association of Polish Journalists issued an official statement saying that it was a piece of reliable journalism posted under the constitutional right to freedom of speech, it provoked a violent protest from the psychiatric community, I was even threatened with a criminal trial.
Our goal is to reliably present the latest scientific research, including information that may contradict the dominant narrative, in the belief that everyone has the right to access important information in order to make a fully informed decision regarding the treatment they choose.
We want to contribute to the creation and development of available non-pharmacological forms of help for people struggling with various types of mental suffering, as well as to share information on safe and effective dose reduction and withdrawal of psychiatric drugs.
We believe that in the context of mental health prevention, we cannot ignore the cultural and psychosocial causes of suffering, related to such issues as the abuse, housing situation, the labor market, poverty and other manifestations of inequality, discrimination and social exclusion.
My dream is to create a therapy center The House of Hope where people experiencing mental problems will be able to meet experienced, empathic, patient therapists who are open to other people, willing to devote as much time and attention as needed to understand the source of the problem and help in its healing.
All our activities so far have been on the voluntary basis. As president, I do not receive any remuneration from the foundation.
All work related to the creation of the website, graphics, writing and translating texts, etc. was done as part of voluntary assistance and volunteering.
Funds collected by the foundation will be used for statutory activities, e.g. translation and publishing of books previously unavailable in Poland, organization of conferences, social campaigns and the creation of the therapeutic center House of Hope.
